Peter Williams is at the helm of Walking Portugal and the lead guide. Peter’s partner Loraine and her son Robert are also a big part of the business and help to keep things running smoothly, including booking, logistics and guiding some walks.
Peter, who lives half the year in Wales and the other half in Penela, has personally chosen, repeatedly walked and tested the guided daily walking routes.
Peter was formerly in the RAF. He is a down-to-earth, friendly, approachable and highly knowledgeable guide. He has walked extensively in the Cairngorms of Scotland, the coastal paths of Cornwall and his home of North Wales. As well as his love of walking he is a keen cyclist, bird watcher and chess player. He adores the Central Portugal area and enthusiastically guides his walks.
He says: “I’ve long been enthralled with this part of Portugal and have chosen the walking routes to offer diversity for guests with local and historical interests, as well as showing the beauty of the landscape, the diverse flora and fauna and the abundance of bird life.”
